Simran Sethi

As a graduate of the first Presidio MBA class in 2005, Simran is also pioneering the field of green journalism. She is the contributing environmental correspondent for NBC News and host of Sundance Channel's The Green. She was named one of the top Eco-Heroes of 2007 by the UK’s Independent and identified as a Variety magazine Woman of Impact (August 2007). She’s contributed environmental segments to the Oprah Winfrey Show and has been featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and Martha Stewart Show, highlighting ways citizens can become more environmentally friendly.

In addition to reporting on environmental issues, Simran teaches as the Lacy Haynes professional chair at the University of Kansas School of Journalism and Mass Communication. She has also been named an Associate Fellow to the Asia Society and a Goddard Fellow at New York University.

Under Simran’s management, TreeHugger.com won the 2006 Vloggie for Best Green Vlog. Lauded in Vanity Fair’s green issue (April 2007) as the environmental “messenger,” Simran hosted a forum on global warming with Nobel Laureate Al Gore for MSN.com. She is currently writing a book on the impacts of American consumption for Harper Collins and is the contributing author with futurist Hazel Henderson of Ethical Markets: Growing the Green Economy. Prior to becoming a Presidio MBA student, she produced and anchored the news for MTV Asia and MTV India, and developed programming for the BBC through her own production company SHE TV.
